End Of Forums – NCAA benefiting through new platforms

By Raman Khinda

With the ever-changing technological world, the lives of people have changed significantly in terms of acquiring information such as sports news stats and scores. Social media is taking over sports according to Georgia State basketball coach, Bill Curry. He has returned to coaching once again after a decade of retirement.

These platforms have significantly helped the NCAA in terms of recruiting potential players to University athletic programs because it acts as a medium to contact students and gather information. For these potential players, it’s a way to get their names out and get recruited by top Athletic programs in the United States.

Because the NCAA is using social media platforms like Facebook and twitter, fans have access to the prospects their schools are recruiting. The institutions however, are responsible for monitoring the contact between boosters and student athletes.
